Moving Forward, Staying Current.

Members of the Bayview Hospital team attended the 37th Annual Caribbean Cardiology Conference hosted by @caribbeancardiacsociety in Barbados. The conference featured a myriad of panels and activities which served to share knowledge, experience, and support amongst regional healthcare professionals, in addition to showcasing the cultural offerings of Barbados during the Crop Over season.

Panel discussions covered a variety of crucial topics, including strategies to improve public awareness of Cardiac Amyloidosis, a highly prevalent and underdiagnosed cause of heart failure, and the desire to pool resources to increase screening, testing and treatment across the region.

The conference also explored new treatment methods for Atrial Fibrillation (AF), and the introduction of an AF registry in the Caribbean, starting in Barbados, which aims to identify care gaps in the region where data is currently lacking. Additionally, the weekend’s proceedings explore the prospect of implementing AI wellness apps to aid in patient care, showcasing the potential of technology in improving health outcomes.
