Liliplum Kids partners with Bayview Hospital to deliver a practical maternity workshop.
Bringing new life into the world is a profound journey that deserves expert care, guidance, and reassurance at every stage. On Sunday, 28th September, parents-to-be gathered in the Liliplum Kids showroom for an intimate Maternity Workshop led by veteran midwife Avashine Stuart Kellman from Bayview Hospital.
She shared practical insights on everything from the initial antenatal visit to postnatal recovery. The session not only showcased Bayview Hospital’s commitment to personalised, compassionate maternity care but also demonstrated why many families continue their journey with Liliplum Kids for their trusted baby essentials.
Avashine guided attendees through practical labour preparation tips, including how to recognise regular contractions, manage early discomfort, and use breathing techniques to remain calm and focused as labour progresses. Her honest explanations of delivery methods, from natural births to assisted vacuum extractions and C-sections, helped demystify the process and prepare mothers mentally and emotionally for the big day.
Once the baby arrives, care continues seamlessly. Skin-to-skin contact, immediate paediatric checks, Apgar scoring, and the administration of vitamin K are all part of Bayview Hospital’s delivery protocol. Mothers are guided through breastfeeding techniques, including positioning, managing flat or inverted nipples, and understanding the transition from colostrum to mature milk, with midwives offering hands-on support. Avashine emphasised that breastfeeding “takes patience and support,” but with the right guidance, mothers can give their babies the best nutritional start in life.
