When planning a visit to Bayview Hospital or any other Healthcare facility, it is by natural instinct to think mainly of the nurses, midwives, doctors, consultants, surgeons, and pharmacists who play pivotal roles in patients’ treatment and the recovery process. However, there is one other special team in the background that keeps the engine of any Medical Institution running smoothly; that is, the Administrative Team.
So, who makes up the Administrative Team, you asked? Let us take a look at these key team players at Bayview Hospital.
At the helm we have the Hospital and Assistant Hospital Administrators who focus on strategic planning, organising, staffing, directing, controlling, and coordinating the overall daily functions of the Hospital. This includes having a balanced role that supports patients, physicians, associates, and by extension the Community. To accomplish some of these functions, the Administrators depend on the reliable advice and direction from our efficient Human Resources Team.
The Risk Management Officer has a key role as well, which focuses on risks and legislative compliance, safety, health and wellness regulations, food safety and hygiene practices, and public health regulations. This role also focuses on policies, procedures and quality assurance which is supported by the Hospital’s Clinical Governance Committee.
The Office Manager and Team comprise the Accounts Clerks, Admissions Officer, Reception, Night Auditors, and Messenger. This team does not only focus on the financial aspect of the business but provides a customer-friendly and reassuring approach to all clients and stakeholders. This team ensures all administrative functions are also carried out efficiently and timely.
One may even conclude that the Office Manager and her team are the face of Bayview Hospital, since the patient’s experience starts to take shape from the time you reach the door, and ends on exiting the same.
The Kitchen Manager and Team are also vital team members, who take pride in preparing delicious balanced meals which are described by many patients as “mouth-watering”. The Kitchen Manager and her team are often found interacting with patients daily to ensure that their dietary needs, and any special requests are accommodated.
The Housekeeping Supervisor and Team are remarkable not only in going from patient-to-patient rooms, operating theatre, and offices to clean/disinfect/sanitize, but they also take pride in ensuring that there are no breaches in infection control practices at our medical institution. The team is passionate and takes pride in preventing the spread of hospital-acquired infections.
Last but not least, we highlight our Maintenance Department, who keeps the team functioning like a well-oiled machine. Our Maintenance Department is divided into two areas, with one aspect focused on the overall upkeep of the plant infrastructure and assets; and the second area focused on preventative and corrective maintenance of medical equipment and regulatory standards. To achieve its goals and objectives, this department is supported by Biomedical Engineers from Medical Engineering Services.
Phil Jackson, an American basketball player, coach and executive once said, “The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” So next time you take a trip to Bayview Hospital or any healthcare facility, remember the unsung heroes who are working in the background to make sure your healthcare is the top priority. We thank you for the opportunity to serve you in 2024 and pray for you and your families a healthy and prosperous 2025.
