On behalf of all the Physicians who have used and those still using Bayview Hospital, allow me to say a few words of gratitude.
When I first met you, I remember Mr. Harris asked me to “hold your hand a bit during the first few months. “That requirement was short-lived; within a few weeks, you were full steam ahead, steering the ship with enthusiasm and vigour.
You have led this hospital through so much, which we have all reaped the benefits of- The staffing of the hospital with SHOs, the ICU, New protocols/ contracts, Malpractice for Drs using Bayview, the Refurbishment of rooms and now the new Bayview Urgent Care.
You were the face of COVID-19 for Bayview- helping me obtain hundreds of passes for doctors, establishing and then resolving protective guidelines, as well as working with the government and then the new Bayview labs to conduct COVID-19 tests on site – it was a nightmare with daily challenges. Still, you faced them and pulled the hospital through.
The monthly Friday meetings were endless and at times torturous- from solving simple problems like how to better secure the oxygen tanks or design the new name badges to the more complex, rewriting the Drs. Agreement.
I think many of the Drs would concur that we argued with you more than we agreed with you on so many matters- but you always willingly heard our voices, allowed us to vent, at times, accepted our suggestions, but more importantly, agreed to disagree with us respectfully.
I know for one the patients, in particular, will miss your smiling visits and cheerful words in the morning, “just checking in!” It is truly with a heavy heart that I bid you farewell, Jules.
I hope that wherever your future roles take you, you will continue to make huge impacts on the institutions as well as the people, as you did at Bayview.
More importantly, I wish you appreciation and happiness as you embark on your new roles- wherever they may be.
On behalf of the Surgeons, Medical Physicians, Anesthetists, Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dentists and Pediatricians, Thank you, Miss Reid, “JULES” for 8 years of sacrifice and service – YOU ARE SO APPRECIATED AND WILL TRULY BE MISSED!!!!!
Dr. Ranita Jhagroo
Medical Chief of Staff – affectionately known by Jules as “doc“/ “doc sunshine“!
